Part of Singapore’s campaign to inscribe its iconic Hawker Culture onto the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
For this project, we developed a nostalgic visual style using cut-out cardboard stop motion to capture the essence of Singapore’s Hawker Culture. This handcrafted approach reflected the warmth and tradition of hawker centers, evoking memories of community and shared heritage. Through this creative direction, we highlighted the everyday stories, sights, and flavors that make hawker centers a cornerstone of Singaporean life. The animation’s tactile and playful quality brought a sense of authenticity and charm, connecting with audiences on an emotional level, while supporting Singapore’s successful bid to have its Hawker Culture recognized by UNESCO.
