BLOOMBERG X ITOCHU

Blending traditional media and CGI, we crafted a narrative that seamlessly weaves together the past, present, and future. Our team embarked on a journey to bring to life the story of one of Japan's oldest corporations.
Founded in 1858, Itochu Corporation stands on the core principle of Sampo Yoshi—good for the seller, good for the buyer, and good for society. The story we developed follows the legacy of the Ohmi merchants, who traversed Japan, bringing prosperity and helping communities thrive. This tradition continues into the present day. We collaborated with Bloomberg and Itochu to visually represent the corporation's values through meaningful and symbolic visuals.

Challenge
We were tasked with telling the story of Itochu Corporation and its core belief in Sampo Yoshi through a mix of live-action and stop-motion style animation, seamlessly blending the past, present, and future while ensuring cultural authenticity and capturing the essence of Japanese tradition.
Solution
We developed a mixed-media concept that integrated live sumi-e painting, stop-motion animation, and CGI. By tapping into our Vietnamese creative network, we were able to maintain the production budget while meeting the client's vision. For the early era, we used washi paper as a reference for the paper assets, embracing a simple cut-and-glue aesthetic. As the narrative progressed, we modernized the materials, reflecting the evolution of architecture and design over time, mirroring Itochu’s own headquarters development.
